Biography

Corrado Pasquotti was born in Vittorio Veneto in 1954, he studied in Padova, Venice and Milan with Dalla Vecchia and Giacomo Manzoni. Finally he finished up his formation with Franco Donatoni at the Chigiana Music Academy and at S. Cecilia National Academy in Rome.

He had also been busy with elec synthesis of sounds and with computer music while working at the Calculation Centre of Padova. Some of his works have distinguished themselves during some significant ocasions ('Premio Angelicum' of Milan, 'Venezia opera prima', Aterforum, Auditorium of the RAI of Rome, Biennale of Venice, Ircam of Paris, ICA of London, Lincoln Center of New York, etc.).

The music writing of Corrado Pasquotti starts from those methods of experimentation upon spacing and timbre grid , that belong to the tecnical horizon of the last musical avant-garde, and to which are not strangers some suggestions of his last teacher Donatoni. Anyway Pasquotti has also, and in the same measure, the taste for the concrete tangibility of figures, for the clear formal articulation, for cultural humours slytly ironic and allusive which seem to evade from whatever radical thought.

Therefore all his processes of coherent structural organization of the sounding matter (the so-called 'grid'), represent a rational background after which comes a compositional game that is supposed to draw sequences and forms of plastic evidence, articulated on always extremely transparent constructive articulations.
